Stoke Prior children were very busy in the lead up to Christmas. We performed a nativity play about the birth of Jesus for staff and parents. We also shared a Christmas lunch of roast turkey, roast potatoes and vegetables together and enjoyed a Christmas party, as well as recording our Christmas songs. We are all now enjoying a two week Christmas break from school and will be returning on January 5th.
We have had a lot of snow recently which has caused a significant amount of disruption for people but also lots of fun for children!
We are sending you our calendars this week which we hope you will enjoy.
With all good wishes for the new year - 2011.

Christmas in Poland
Hi! In Poland we love Christmas!
It` s our favourite holiday in the year! Streets are full of colourful lamps and christmas trees, shops are ful of people buying presents and choosing christmas cards.
Christmas trees are set up in every home and decorated with sparkling chains, lights, toys and trinkets.
But everyone waits for Christmas Eve. When the first star appears in the sky, we take seats at the Christmas table and we don` t forget about leaving an empty place for an unexpected guest. The table is covered with white tablecloth and hay is under it.
Another custom is number of dishes- should be twelve. The most popular are: red borsch, pies with sour cabbage and and mushrooms, fish (usually carp) and poppy seed cake.
Before the family starts eating, they share with holy wafer and say greetings. After the supper we share presents and sing chistmas carols. At midnight we go to church for a special mass. We believe that animals can speak human voices.
On the first day of Christmas we spend at home but on the second we usually visit our families.

Italian Xmas
Buongiorno a tutti! Hello to everyone! Hola a todos! Dzien dobry! We are 6 pupils of the Grumello's Middle school (Italy). We are very happy to work for this project! We want to tell you something about our Xmas traditions! Our Xmas holidays begin on 23th Dec and end on 9th Jan. In those days we usually stay at home with our families and eat a lot of special things: such as "panettone", "fried fish", "mostarda cremonese with boiled meat", "torrone"! In each home there's a Xmas tree with a lot of gifts and a "presepe".
We love so much our Xmas holidays! How about your Xmas?
Ciao a tutti from Italy!

First Project Meeting
The first project meeting between our schools took place this month at Stoke Prior School UK. Teachers from England, Spain and Italy took part, sharing their ideas about the project and finalising the details of the activities to be carried out this term. The teachers also met to share important information about the Education system in our countries as well as sharing resources and watching lessons and children at work. The children of Stoke Proir School watched presentations about the schools in Spain and Italy and asked the teachers many questions to find out more about their schools and countries. The teachers met with members of the school community and the mayor of Leominster to learn more about life at Stoke Prior and surrounding area. The activities to be carried out by February are: a logo competition; a cultural calendar, a Christmas Carol CD and a poster about your school . Your teachers will give you more details. Let us know how you are getting on!
